is as safe as possible and follows good health practices.

Give 1 ounce clear fluid (water, diluted sports drink, flat soda) every 15 minutes- gradually increase the intake. |
| Pinkeye (Conjunctivitis) |
Redness, discharge; swelling of the tissue around the eye |
If viral, keep her home until the eye is completely clear. If bacterial, you can send your child back to school after 24-48 hours of antibiotic drops |
See a doctor. If viral, there is no treatment. If bacterial, use antibacterial drops. Avoid sharing towels and pillowcases. |
| Colds and Runny Noses |
Headache, congestion, body aches |
Until child feels well enough to attend. |
Over-the-counter decongestants recommended by your pediatrician, fluids, and rest. |
| Sore Throats |
Pain when swallowing; fever; headache |
Until child is fever-free and on antibiotics for 24 hours. Child should also feel well enough to attend. |
For strep: Antibiotics, fluids, and rest
For viral sore throats: soothing fluids, acetaminophen and rest. |
