Why are songs and finger plays crucial in early childhood?
- They provide the opportunity for all children to become involved.
- All Children need to say words in order to acquire them, so that they may be used later on in reading and creative writing.
- Children become familiar with new words in a meaningful context so they become part of speech.
- Even the shy child can enter into the song or rhyme with all the poise and security of the confident child.
- Songs and finger plays are conducted in a relaxed and happy atmosphere where the learning is in the doing not the end result.
